Israel launches Operation Gideon’s Chariots to seize Gaza

Israel has launched Operation Gideon’s Chariots to seize Gaza. Over 370 Palestinians have been killed in three days. Israel resumed strikes on March 18, violating the ceasefire agreement.

AhlulBayt News Agency: The Israeli army has launched the first stage of a major offensive in Gaza, dubbed “Gideon’s Chariots,” aiming to seize the Palestinian territory.

The plan was approved by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Security Cabinet on May 5, with the stated goal of conquering Gaza and holding the territory under Israeli control.

On Friday, the Israeli army announced that it had begun the “first moves” of Operation Gideon’s Chariots over the past 24 hours.

The army stated that it had launched extensive attacks and mobilized forces to seize strategic areas in Gaza as part of the expansion of the campaign.

According to Israeli officials, the offensive aims to retain control of Gaza while moving the Palestinian civilian population toward the south of the strip.

The operation is also intended to achieve all the goals of the war, including the release of hostages and the defeat of Hamas.

Over the past three days, Israeli attacks have killed more than 370 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

On Friday, Israel continued its assault, killing 74 Palestinians, mostly in northern Gaza.

The Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahia received 30 dead and dozens of injured, mostly women and children.

The massacres in northern Gaza followed powerful Israeli strikes near the European Hospital in Khan Yunis on Tuesday.

Reports indicate that 40 bunker buster bombs were used to target an underground complex allegedly linked to Palestinian resistance.

Israel launched its war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, killing more than 53,000 Palestinians so far.

In January, Israel was forced to agree to a ceasefire deal with Hamas, following its failure to achieve its objectives, including the elimination of Palestinian resistance and the release of captives.

The 42-day truce, repeatedly violated by Israel, expired on March 1, but Israel has refused to engage in talks for the second stage of the agreement.

On March 18, Israel resumed strikes on Gaza, breaking the nearly two-month-long ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement
